Large town of St Austell one and a half miles to the north. Semi rural area on coast, farmland with rural 'suburbs'. Penrice community hospital borders the eastern boundaries of the rugby club, being some 700 yards away from my position.

Full Description & Details

While hunting rabbits at the rugby club I had positioned myself facing south at the top of the main practice pitches and was waiting to ambush them as dusk approached. I had a good view towards a heavily wooded public bridleway bordering a golf course. While waiting patiently my attention was drawn towards what I at first took to be a motorcycle headlight moving rapidly through the trees, moving from west to east. Within seconds it had vanished from view. It was only afterwards that I realised that it was travelling along the treetops, was utterly silent and incredibly fast. The fact that it also performed a zig zag, doubling back on itself without any apparent change of speed also dispelled the notion that it had been a motorcyclist. I remember thinking: 'Well, I've just seen an unidentified flying object!' I was calm after the sighting and got on with clearing the rabbits from the pitches.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

No. I had to discount my theory of a motorcyclist as the bridleway is two to three feet deep in mud, being little used by walkers and horse riders and more of a natural drainage ditch. Also the object was soundless, travelling through the tree tops.

Witness Background

Standard secondary modern education.Former labourer and gardener, now carer for elderly relative and private landlord.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

Always took an interest in the phenomenon since I was a child. However I find any hypothetical posturing on the part of new age style pundits unhelpful and irritating. Its an unexplained phenomena. What I witnessed certainly was!
