Cruising at 8,500 feet we experienced some engine power lost in ours single engine Cessna. The engine lost about 500 rpm so we decided to decend from 8,500 to 3,500 feet just in case we have to make an emergency landing. Duing ours 5 minutes slow decent we experienced another problems around 6,000 feet as ours instruments went enthusiasticcally crazy as ours compass was reading opposit along with others instruments gauges reading incorrectly for less than ten second. For half of a minute we look at one another questioning what just happend? Next, ours engine begin to sputter knowing we still have 3/4 of fuel left and the cockpit instruments lights also begins to flickers on and off for another few short second while my friend as a pilot in command begin to go through necessary emergency checklist as I kept active looking at the map and outside of the windows checking our location to find the nearest airport or a place to land. During decent flying through and away from the clouds I notice a super extream diffrent asorted colors lights which lit up the clouds like a heavy massive thunderstorm behind us. At one point its seem like it was right behind us. We did not hear any thunder near by and the forcast in our direction of flight have no thunderstorm in the area. Once we both have clear the clouds one big strange beautiful bright light shot in front and above us like a bullet traveling enormous speed from behind us between a mile or two than it splits apart into two sets of lights and shot away again in diffrent direction in an upward direction. We both never have believed in UFO until then.
