Whitley Strieber

Whitley Strieber began his writing career with the modern-gothic horror novels The Wolfen and The Hunger, highly respected novels for which Mr. Strieber earned renown as one of the best of the “new wave” of horror writers. Both of these novels were made into films, the latter of which, starring legendary French actress Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, and Susan Sarandon is a highly stylized film that has attained cult status.

In the mid-eighties he rose to national prominence by painting a detailed picture of the harm our country could suffer if the peoples of the world accepted even the “limited” use of nuclear exchanges to solve their differences (a possibility that was being seriously considered as feasible in earlier political climates). His concern was expressed in his novels Warday and Wolf of Shadows, a New York Times bestseller (co-authored by James Kunetka) and an award winning young-adult novel, respectively.

He is perhaps best known for the third phase of his career, which began with Communion, an autobiographical account of his experiences with strange “visitors” who came to his cabin in the New York countryside.
