Egg shape bright aluminum in color

I revisited the same site in the 1980's and estimated the object was about five hundred feet away and maybe up to 200 feet across.

Maybe less than a 100 feet above the ground and about 500 feet away

Description of Area / Surroundings

On the extreme edge of very small town in Wyoming. Craft was probably 500 feet from nearest house (us). Nothing but dirt and sagebrush between us and craft

Myself (about 12 years old at the time) and two other boys about my age were sleeping out in the backyard of my grandmother's house on the edge of small town Reliance, Wyo. We had not yet gone to sleep and had been looking at the stars on a very clear summer night. We were talking and I looked up and saw a large egg-shapped bright aluminum-colored object just 'there' not moving and I now estimate it was several hundred feet long and about 500 feet away just above a slight rise of barren Wyoming landscape. We were too scared to move at the time and knew we had to get some adults to witness it but we seemed too scared to move. Suddenly we heard loud 'thumping' sounds and it began to rise straight up slowly ar first then much faster. We ran into the house where my grandmother was having a card party or some kind of gathering of ladies. We did not even take time to put on our pants over our underwear. We finally got some of the adults outside but by then it was just a small bright light still going up. They said it was just a meteor. A side note. I noticed a yellow light flickering from side to side coming from the middle of the egg shapped craft but the other two boys did not see it. I have a few other observations about after effects if anyone is interested.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

Not anything known. Deffinately not a blimp or helicopter.

Was 12 year old boy at time. Am now 69 and have been around aviation most of my life including four years in Air Force. Never saw anything like that

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

The 1950's were awash in flying saucer reports but ours did not look anything like a saucer.
