100ft in diameter, but it wasn't a perfect circle, it was light

I remember being at a Bashas Grocery Store getting stuff and what not. As I walked outside to my car my boyfriend and I saw a very large blinding green light, everyone around including us had ducked to the ground thinking it was sometime of explosion or meteor. The light kept getting brighter and larger, but it did not move around or anything. The ground and all the cars were green from the light, everyone tried looking at it closer to see what it was but the light was so bright that you couldn't see anything. about 10 seconds later the light dissapeared, and there was nothing there. No trace of anything.

After that we conversed with people around us to make sure we were not hallucinating, but they all saw it too. We drove home, and my brother and neighbor were outside. They asked us "Oh my god did you see that!" "What was that?" I went inside and called the local news station, to report what we saw, and they said they were being swamped with calls from people who had also seen it. They said it was being looked into. We waited and watched the news for 5 days to see if any explanation was found for this light. It was never heard of ona any of the news channels. I dont't know if this was a UFO or not. I'm writing this in hopes that maybe someone else saw something we didn't. It's been over a year and a half and we still know nothing. The military and police don't have any records of this. If you have any info. I'd really like to know what it was.
