B-17 bomber stream was at 25 000 feet,heading east. . Object appeard appeared below and on right side of bomber stream heading west. It was in a position to see the bottom of the B-17's in the squadron formations.

Size of Object(s)Larger than a B-17 Full Description & DetailsFrom the geometry involved, the approximate speed of the wingless object can be estimated. The day was clear and sunny, SIghted from a 5-mile height, it was visible aheead by a few miles. It disappeared at least a few miles behind my plane. Since it traversed 15 to 20 miles in 15 to 30 seconds, the speed was between 6000 miles per hour and 16000 miles per hour. the shape was roughly oval, with the rear end tapered.
