I was flying at approximately 3,000' and when abeam Cape Otway, I observed a metalic sphere emerge from the cloud in front of me. I would estimate the object to be approximatley 2 kilomentres in front and at aproximatley 4,000 feet. It appearedt to be about 50 feet in diameter and it was silver in colour with no other detail evident. The object remained stationary for approximately 30 seconds, then slowly moved back into the cloud behind it.
