Full Description & Details

First off, I am an intelligent, articulate 50 year old UK citizen. I am employed, solvent and in full retention of my faculties. I saw what I saw and I know what I saw.

I smoke, ok that's not a good start. I never smoke in the house, I always stand in the rear doorway and always have one around 10-11pm before I go to bed. I see a lot of strange lights in the sky, but as I am on the flight path to Bristol airport I put them all down to commercial aircraft. In fact, many that look strange at first sight become very normal after a couple of minutes study. It's just something I do whilst smoking.

Except one night. It was late in the year, pitch dark.

My garden does not contain any lights. There is a 6ft garden wall 30 feet away, and on the other side is a street light. Nothing strange in that.

I am stood there gazing around, when something caught my eye. On the oher side of the garden wall I caught a quick glimpse of something flying along the footpath under the streetlight. I saw it for about a second, and it was the altitude of 5ft and the fact that it flew into the light from the streetlamp that made me notice it. I thought it was very odd.

THEN

I see something in the shadows fly vertically up the other side of the garden wall between me and the streetlight. It then flies horizontally over the wall, drops down to head height into the darkness and flew directly at me across the garden. It literally flew to within 2ft of my face, and I saw it clearly.

I thought it was going to fly straight into me, but at the last second it simply flew straight up the side of the house vertically into the darkness.

It was a rectangular box, with a mottled grey finish. It had no wings, it made no noise and it had no eyes or feet. It was not a bird or a bat, they simply do not fly that way.

To this day I wish that I had reached out and grabbed it, or that I had a net to trap it with. Whatever it was, it was under intelligent control, it had the ability to fly, and navigate, and to change direction through 90 degrees instantly.

I do not live near anything of 'national security' importance, just a rural area on the fringes of Bristol UK, the footpath simply goes into a cul-de-sac on a housing estate. Where it came from or where it was going is anybody's guess, but I saw it, it was there, it was right in front of me, and it existed.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

It was absolutely not an animal or bird. It had no visible means of propulsion. It made no noise. It had no lights. It demonstrated 90 degree directional changes on both the vertical and horizontal plane.

Views on UFOs, before and after sighting

I believe that many if not all UFO's are military craft. This is quite simply because all UFO reports in all countries are always handled by the Air Force or the Security Services. If they were considered a danger or were really 'unknown' then governments would be asking for assistance in reporting sightings...they don't. They discourage them. That explains a great deal.
