Appearance / Description of Object(s)Bright, silvery white with its own luminesence and spherical in shape but its outline wasn't clear - a bit like looking at a bright light in a heavy fog. There was also a hazy dark ring around it. Size of Object(s)Oh that is really difficult - perhaps half the size of a fullmoon when it is directly overhead. Distance to Object(s) & Altitude5 or 6 kms away at its closest approach and it appeared to be 20 to 25000 feet up Description of Area / SurroundingsOpen rural landscape with occasional trees. Nothing of any significance in area except local GA airport 26 nautical miles away. Full Description & DetailsI was out in the field planting trees when something in the south west about 30 degrees above the horizon caught my eye. This was at 1pm on a bright, sunny, cloudless, windless day. At first I thought it was a jet but quickly realized it wasn't. Then I thought it maybe a daytime satellite "flare" but I soon realized that was wrong too. Then I thought it maybe a weather balloon but soon realized it wasn't that either. The object appeared to be about 20 to 25000 ft up (I am a retired pilot). It was very silvery white and very bright seeming to have its own luminesence. Its outline wasn't clearly defined - a bit like looking at a bright light in heavy fog. There also appeared to be a dark hazy ring around this object. I watched it for maybe 1 minute as it slowly came towards me. It then almost stopped and then did an erratic lopsided 270 degree turn to the left. By this time it was about 70 degrees above the horizon. As it completed the turn it just suddenly took off towards the south east. It disappeared behind a nearby tree. I lost sight of it for 5 to 10 seconds as I walked to the right. I then saw it again and couldn't believe how far away it was - it was about 10 degrees above the horizon way, way in the distance but I could still see its brightness and spherical shape. Seconds after that I lost sight of it. So it took perhaps 15 seconds to go from being 70 degrees above the horizon to disappearing in the distance - no jet or even rocket or even satellite goes that fast. There was not a sound, not even the birds were twittering, if it had been any sort of a/c I would have heard it, but there was not a sound. I am a person in good health with excellent hearing and excellent eyesight, I don't drink and I don't take drugs. It was the most amazing thing I have ever witnessed and I have always been sceptical about UFO's. Not now I'm not. What else could it have been?- I wish someone could tell me what it was. Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object? No, nothing manmade - I am a retired pilot so I can easily recognise aircraft and know what they can and can't do when flying and this thing definitely wasn't an a/c of the human made kind. Witness Backgroundretired pilot now farmer Views on UFOs, before and after sightingHad an open mind before and was somewhat sceptical but now I am convinced there is something Other CommentsI want to see it again - the way it made that erratic jerky turn and then its sudden dash away to the south has me convinced it was nothing man made and there was not a whisper of sound.
