Appearance / Description of Object(s)Silver metallic in color, very shiny and disk shaped. When they didn't sway back and forth you could only see a thin dark outline that looked like a thin object in the distance. If you took a large piece of thick metal and threw it like a frisbee, that is pretty much how you can describe the object, thin when level and round when it was on its side. However, these objects didn't come down and flew in formation. Size of Object(s)Approx. 40 feet in diameter and 5 to 7 feet high. About the size of a dime as it popped up on its side. Both were the same size. Description of Area / SurroundingsUrban, populated. Nothing special here except a lot of cows and horses. Mountainous area, but the bitterroot is a large valley between two mountain ranges. Full Description & DetailsWhile driving home with a load on my truck on highway 93 going south from Stevensville about 3:50 p.m. I noticed something flashing in the sky and as I watched (while trying to stay on the road) I noticed two objects I thought were planes for a second moving East to West over the Bitterroot Valley near Bear Creek (Victor area) until a second later they both swayed back and forth and the following disk popped up on its side to reveal a shiny metallic surface that reflected the sun, not as bright like a mirror, but reflecting enough sunlight with a bright blue grey reflection (like cobalt metal with a bright light shined on it is exactly what it looked like) that came from the whole area of the craft. It was on its side for about 2 seconds as it still moved forward following the other. That is when I saw it was a disk shaped and that it was not an airplane. When they were level they were more of a thin dark line in the sky with no shiny reflection from their sides (that I could see anyway from my angle).
Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?Frisbee at 5000 feet.. maybe. Witness BackgroundInformation Security Consultant Served in three branches of Military Service Views on UFOs, before and after sightingI read a few articles about them and wasn't selfish about the idea God didn't make this huge universe just for the people on earth, so I am sure there are millions of different races roaming around looking for something to do. Other CommentsMost people here that have lived here for a long time will say they have seen many sightings here, but don't want to talk about it with law enforcement or any other agency. They just keep it to themselves and tell their stories among friends. There are those who even have seen crafts land in their fields at times, but won't report it for fear others would think they were nuts. Makes sense to me. Appearance / Description of Object(s)Five points of light in triangular formation (none blinking). Color was white with magnitude that of a little less than Jupiter and closer to Saturn when viewed with naked eye. Size of Object(s)I could not estimate exact size but with my arm stretched out in front of me, my middle and index finger together would cover the object Description of Area / SurroundingsArea was urban (business/factory zoned), but object was seen in northeast sky probably 20-30 miles further north. The only known special sight in that direction (which I did not know at the time) is Selfridge Air Base. Full Description & DetailsIt was the early morning hours (approx. 4:30 am) in August, 1978. I worked in isolated area of a dairy plant. I was sitting on steps outside my work area which faced north. I observed what appeared to be military jets flying in a triangular formation (about five points of light with lead light and two down each side to form the triangle. I assumed there were five "distinct" objects moving in what would be a normal speed for jets at high altitude. It was very quiet at that time of the morning, and found it strange that I could not hear the usual sound associated with jets (i.e the faint echo of the engines), nor see the usually familiar blinking lights. I could not tell the exact altitude, but would assume that these "jets" were at normal cruise altitude. Other than these observations, nothing else appeared strange until after viewing the object(s) for 15-20 seconds. At that time, the object(s) began to zig-zag very quickly for 2-3 seconds and then took off in a northwesterly direction at an extremely high rate of speed. It was at this point that I realized that it was not jet aircraft because nothing I had ever seen could move that fast. In addition, I also concluded that it was a single object that I viewed and not five distinct objects (assuming that five aircradt could not move that fast in a synchronized fashion). Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?I thought that maybe these lights were caused by a spotlight which would obvioulsy be ground based (the kind seen in store openings). However, there was no noticeable beams shining up to that area and given the time of day would have been unlikely. I would have thought nothing of the object other than jets flying in formation, until the zig-zag and speed it left the area. Witness BackgroundAssistant prosecuting attorney for 15 years; law degree; undergraduate degree in business; worked my way through law school in various summer jobs (loading docks, painting houses, etc.) Views on UFOs, before and after sightingI have also been interested in space studies, but not particularly in UFOs. I once did a term paper for a writing class on UFOs, but was never much more interested than the average person. I was 19 years old when I saw the object, and have not seen anything like it since then. I have been to northern Michigan many times and have been able to observe satellites cruising overhead because of the clearness of the sky. However, the object I saw in August 1978 was not a satellite or any type of military aircraft in my opinion. what the object was I can't say for sure and still wonder to this day. I believe the universe is vast enough to support other forms of life (even intelligent life). I am also aware of the great distances involved in any space travel betwen even the closest stars to our planet. However, I'm also aware over the last 25 years that we are learning that there is so much unknown about the universe, that to discount anything would be short-sighted. The universe has now been dated to around 14 billion years and our solar system is only 4.3 billion years old. The possibilities of other universes and dimensions seems to be accepted by the astrophysics community (I subscribe to Discover magazine to keep up on science subjects). I can't say that what I saw was something from "outer space", but I also can't believe it was anything from this planet. Since that time, I don't discount the UFO phenomena that people experience and automatically label all of the hoaxes. I think some experiences really can't be explained and probably never will. Appearance / Description of Object(s)It was maybe 20 to 50 feet wide. It was shinny and sliver colored but the underside of it was darker- i assumed this was because the sun could only reflect fully off of the exposed part of the object. It was flat and slightly oval shaped. It was bigger than a 2 seater plane, but way smaller than a commercial jet.- Size of Object(s)With my arms stretched out the UFO would be about 1cm between my fingers. Maybe 20 to 50 feet wide since it was in my estimation a bit more than 1km away. Distance to Object(s) & AltitudeRoughly 1 and a half km away, and 1 km in the air. Description of Area / SurroundingsFesserton is a rural area- Its a small highway town with a population less than 100 people. On Fesserton Side road the area turns to forest and going northwood.. into bush and dirt roads. The craft was overlooking houses in the area but was clearly in the area where forest was present. The only thing of interest I could think of would be the 400 series HWY that was about 2 km west of where I was standing. The HWY is a major roadway- for going to Toronto for example. (4 lanes of traffic) Full Description & DetailsRoughly 7:50am At the time of the sighting I was 15 years old and in grade 10. I was also waiting by the bus stop alone.
Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object? The object was moving= stars, planets. The moon could also be seen at the same time in the sky, but to the left. SO it was not the moon! The object was clearly about 1 km from the ground= not a satellite. I dont knw much about weather balloons but the object was not a ball or ballon of any kind. It was flat, rounded, and disc shaped. And ive already explained why I think it was not a regular tour guide plane or commercial plane. Witness BackgroundBy Law officer, Criminal Justice 4th year in University, worked as a cook for 5 years in a fine dinning restaurant. Views on UFOs, before and after sightingBefore the sighting I had watched movies like Fire in the Sky and I believed in Aliens. However I was more concerned with aliens themselves and not what their crafts might look like- I thought when I was seeing it that it could be a UFO- Actually i wanted it to be one. But I was not about to rule out all possibilities just to say it was. Its movement was WAY WAY too slow to be any kindof plane at that close to the ground. To me its unexplained, and since it resembled a conventional UFO, thats what I thought it was. No place or helicopter moved that slowly and looked LIKE a silver flat and rounded object. Years later after educating myself through the internet I am certain that what I saw was a grey alien style ship. The sport model maybe! Appearance / Description of Object(s)There were 3 black roundlike objects in a triangular formation. Not shiny, no reflection. No movement at all. Size of Object(s)Relative size was about 1/8 inch. for each object, and about 1 inch across for the entire formation. The actual size is a bit difficult to tell. Description of Area / SurroundingsIt is a densely populated area. The only site near the area is a chain of mountains. Full Description & DetailsLet me tell you that I lost a little bit of belive in sightings, they all seemed to be hoaks. I'd seen some (not many, only about 2 or 3) unusual things in the night skies in the past, but thougt they were just satellites. That was 'till this event happend.
Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?Could not be stars because the event started with some light in the sky and there werent any. It was a clear night so no clouds. Since the objects did not move they weren't birds. Blimps and weather ballons aren't common in this region. So we (the community) would know about them. Witness BackgroundI'm an architect. I own a pet store. Views on UFOs, before and after sightingI used to read plenty of articles about all this, until I lost a bit of "faith". Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?Given what I perceive as the criteria for what constitues a "natural" versus "man-made" object, I believe that the object can objectively be ruled out as "natural." I think that it is reasonable to examine the object as a man-made aircraft . I also believe that given the degree of my knowledge about the object and its affiliations, I cannot, with any certainty, postulate as to its origins. Witness BackgroundI am an off again, on again college student who has lived in the Deep South most of her life, and recently moved back after a 3 1/2 year stint in Kansas. I am not strongly affiliated with any organized religion, and do think of myself as having what might be known as a spiritual life. I have not made many decisive calls on the metaphysical. Anything might be possible could sum it up. Views on UFOs, before and after sightingI am, and remain, skeptical of alien abduction as a "true" phenomenon (I tend to side with alien abduction as a sensory-based metaphor and phenomenon of the psyche). Since I don't have a plethora of evidence or percentage figures to aid, I perceive sightings of UFOs (in the popular culture sense) as runing along a continuum, with some being hoaxes, some legitimate, some misconceptions, some misrepresentations, some possibly accurate in their conclusions, and perhaps some a combination. Provided they are not attempting to deceive, I emphasize the relevance of respect for the validity of the *experience* of every person who reports "unusual" phenomena. Belittlement engenders silence, and silence nourishes ignorance. I think many sighters' accounts are truthful to their perceptions and are of value; afterall, they did experience *something.* Other CommentsIf you have had experiences concerning an object closely resembling the one I have described, feel free to contact me at mothmanos@yahoo.com. Appearance / Description of Object(s)Shaped like a tylenol capsule a little larger than a Grey Hound Bus. All of the outer surface was glowing red. A low glow, kind of like an amber from a camp fire that is starting to burn down. Size of Object(s)Shaped like a tylenol capsule slightly larger than a Grey hound bus. Distance to Object(s) & AltitudeSee above story. Description of Area / Surroundings3 miles outside of a small town. Morris , Ok population 1,250. A few farm houses scattered around the area. Full Description & Details It happened late in the summer of 1987 about 3 miles north of Morris, Ok. It was around 10:30 to 11:00 pm on a sunday night. I was on my way home from Talequah Oklahoma heading south on Highway 52 towards Morris. I looked to my right through some trees and brush and noticed a large glowing red light through the tree/shrub line at the north end of a private grass runway that was owned by family friend Dick Ashley. At first I thought it was some sort of airplane with a LOT of red lights all over it. As I got even with it on a paraellel course it started moving south down the runway. It was then that I noticed that when it got close to a runway light (which were turned off) the light would illuminate. The closer it was to the light, the brighter the runway light would illuminate with it's own white light. As it passed each runway light , the runway light would dim back out and go off. They were incandesant bulbs. I have since learned that a very strong electro-magnetic field can cause this to occur. The UFO continued down the grass runway reaching around 70 mph. At the south end of the runway it climbed to around 100 feet and turned directly east , heading for highway 52. I wasn't for sure what it was until then. I pulled my old truck over to the side of the road and stoped and got out. It came down directly over the highway to about 50 feet up and stoped and hovered there with only a very low humming noise. It sat there for about 3-4 minutes as if to study me. I was scared yet intriuged at the same time. I thought that NO ONE is going to believe my story. There was a trailer house directly across the road from where I had stoped and I wanted more witnesses. So I picked up a new rocks and threw them at the side of the trailer, but no one ever came out. There may have been no one home or maby they were asleep. I had hoped that it would land and maby I could meet them if there were any inside flying this thing. After the 3-4 minute hover it started flying north up Hi 52 and decended down to 3 or 4 feeet above the road and continued north for 1/2 mile. Then took a left and headed west on what we all call the old Gun club road staying only a few feet off the ground. I could see the fence posts between me and it as it flew away at about 50-60 mph. I got back in my truck and started to follow it but decided to head on home. I knew I must keep this a secret to myself for the rest of my life. If I told any one they would think I was nuts and I'd end up in a mental institution. My house was only a few miles away from the sighting. As I pulled up in the driveway, I noticed the pourch light came on and my wife was standing in the door to greet me. That was somthing she NEVER did when I came home after a weekend away. As I approached her I noticed a blank, sort of scared look on her face. So I said,"Did you see it?" and she replied "Holy shit did you see it too?" I said "Hell yes I saw it!" So we stood outside looking around the sky and traded stories. She said she was coming home about a half hour earlier and saw the same thing on the old Morris highway. She said it came down and blocked the road in front of her car only a couple of feet off of the road and about 2 car lengths away and sat there for a couple of minutes. She was so scared she just froze. Didn't get out or try to back up. Then it lifted straight up and over the power lines and flew off to the north east. My son was in the car with her but was so young at the time that he doesn't remember much. He was 5 and remembers the big light in the road but didn't know to be afrade or curious.
Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object? There is no way it can be explaned by any conventional man made or natural object. It moved too fast at times and hovered quietly during other times. Witness BackgroundI am a graduate of Okla State university. I am an aircraft mechanic for a major airline. I enjoy flying small planes from time to time. Views on UFOs, before and after sightingBefore the sighting I thought UFO sightings were for crazy drunken rednecks. Appearance / Description of Object(s)The object was not visible directly. The first flash, which was also the brightest, had a magnitude comprable to that of Venus. The flash and streak that followed became dimmer. The light was white in color, there may have been a bluish hue to it, but it was likely a result of the contrast of the white on black. Size of Object(s)The object was not directly visible Description of Area / SurroundingsWas in a suburban area. The sighting occurred in my backyard which backs up to a park. The tree line was just below where the object appeared in the sky. No special features in the area. Full Description & DetailsThe 2 flashes and 1 streak were seen in the northern sky at about 40 degrees in altitude at an estimated magnitude similar to if not brighter than Venus. It initially appeared to be an iridium flare, however the flash appeared again, but dimmer. Its final appearance was as a dim steak of light a few degrees in length. I assume it was the same object as a straight line could be drawn from where the flashes and streak occurred. I can rule out a fireball, as it was traveling too slow and during the 15 seconds or so I saw it, the object moved only about 5 to 10 degrees (towards the horizon.) I doubt it was a disabled satellite, tumbling in its orbit because its appearance in the sky was too short, but it should not be ruled out as a possibility. I doubt it was an extraterrestrial vehicle
Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object? As stated earlier, it is unlikely that the object was a fireball, as it was moving to slow. It is most likely a decaying satellite tumbling in its orbit. (I have a lot of confidence in this explaination, but what's interesting is that the sighting was so short) Witness BackgroundI am a trustworthy person, I do not suffer from any mental problems except A.D.D. and it is important to note that i'm also a boy scout. I've been a lounge chair astronomer for 4 years now and I haven't seen anything like this before. I am a high school student (10th grade), and I take the topic of UFO's very seriously.
