In the summer of 1989, when I was 11 years old, at approximately 4:00 in the afternoon my brother and I were playing in the street in front of my parent's house. I noticed something very unusual flying towards our direction in the sky. It was very bright because of the sun's reflection. It was going from one end of the horizon to the other (east to west) several thousand feet in the air at tremendous speeds. Out of nowhere 2 military style jets come flying in from two different directions failing to gain persuit on the object. My father had come out to the street right after the event was over and was very dissapointed he missed it. I know I witnessed this phenomenon long enough to get a camera and capture a photo but I was awe-struck at the time. Shortly after this happened when my brother and I were back in the house, he thought he would call a local radio station to report it. (Formerly KIIK 104FM). The person answering the radio station phone said they were flooded with people in the area calling to report a similar sighting at the same time. They proceeded to tell my father that governmen or someone from the Rock Island Arsenal (which is a military weapons manufactuing base located in the area) confirmed it for the public to be meteor. I have lived in the country for years and have witnessed many meteor showers. There is no way two military jets we be interested in a meteor. I know for sure this object never deccended while I was watching it. I believe it to be an object of unknown origin. Definately a UFO.

I had always (my whole life) kept an open mind about such things. It was the most incredible and most memorable experince I can remember from that time in my life.
