Flying object (fiery) with a tail of light at first...heading South over the ocean. The tail disappeared and then it almost burnt out and then flared up again with a puff of smoke and continued across the sky.

The object was going out over the Pacific. The tail disappeared and then it almost burnt out but then it flared up again with a puff of smoke and continued across the sky.
