Observed above/trough the cloudline were 4 distinct ovals of light which would resemble search beams (spotlights), however fog in the air below showed no traces of the beam's origin from the ground.

These beams also danced through the sky in patterns with speeds beyond what search beams would be capable of. We never saw them again after that and only saw them for 45 minutes to an hour that one night.

I would say "heat lightning"but....perfect ovals? 45 mins? in the same area?
