Full Description & DetailsIn 1971 I moved to Ft Lauderdale, Florida after finishing my classes at the University of Buffalo in New York. I believe it was in 1972; I sitting on the beach in Lauderdale admiring the night sky with a casual girlfriend. I was looking out to sea facing east when I noticed a small bright light about the brightness and size of the planet Venus rapidly moving from the north towards the south. I quickly pointed it out to my date. Though moving quickly it seemed to slow for a meteor but to fast for a jet. I thought it might be a satalite. While I was trying to figure it all out, it had moved from the horizon to overhead in about 7 seconds. When it had reached almost directly overhead it suddenly stopped and did an abrupt 90 degree turn to the east for about a second stopped and did another perfect 90 turn and resumed heading south to disappear in another 7 seconds at the far horizon. The movement was so totally unexpected and so totally impossible that i felt a distinct chill on that warm Florida night. My date who saw everything I did seemed shaken and insisted we leave and refused to discuss the incident. I've never forgotten that night or seen anything like it again. Other CommentsI might have forgotten about this incident years ago if it wasn't for the pronounced physical reaction I felt at the moment that light stopped dead in the night sky. I haven't a clue as to what it was but I know what I saw and what I felt and I will never ever forget it.
