In an urban area of Central California, at approximately 9 p.m., it was a moonless night. I stepped out onto my porch, and in the southern sky, hovering just above the treeline, were 3 red lights in the formation of a boomerang. They glowed steadily, unblinking, unflashing, then disappeared below the treeline. I couldn't see any solid mass between the lights, I don't think the lights were part of the same object. It made no noise. An ex-military friend of mine suggested that I had seen a Blackhawk.
