This question is meaningless as far as intelligent life in the universe is concerned because of terms like UFO, unidentified object that is flying, assuming you mean that is controlled flight according to the understanding of the observor, again getting into the human technology of flight and how we percieve acceleration, mass, velocity, angles, gravity inertia, laws of physics, etc.
what does such a survey reveal that isn't already known.
The observor to an unusual event becomes alienated from friends and society sometimes and so yes aliens in one sense really do exist. I happen to be one of those alienated people, but proof of aliens I am not! If you want such proof you tell me how to achieve this, I would like to know what a light in the sky proves.
planets ....wandering stars....lights in the sky.....nova....new star...starlight so bright...and yet only a few see the truth. The knowing in my head remains if only I could share it with everyone I would so you would know too.
since the night I encountered something not human over 40 years I've wondered about it, Many nights I've thought about it, remembered it, they are real.
That is to say (alien beings) for lack of a better term with a technology, knowledge, awareness, apparently well developed scientifically have some interest in humans or Earth or both.
There is nothing more to say, after all getting on the net and placing these words here as I have done before doesn't give me a thrill, it's the opposite actually and that's why I don't do this very often. I don't use e-mail, or chat rooms. I have no website and mostly at this point in my life feeling numb to ridicule, it's very cold winter this year.
People believe in things and I have no problem with that, but what they believe concerns me when it hurts themselves or others. Americans have a need for self gratification and as one person in America I feel a need to write this to satisfy some strange urge or self pity to tell others what I saw in the hope someone out there will know too, but asking them to believe isn't profitable for me.
What am I asking you to believe in?
Think about it for a minute. Why would I want people to believe in things I can't explain myself. Religion has all the bases covered it would seem on belief and that's not my job, repent sinners! The only end time I think about is my own, thankyou.
"The burden of proof lies upon the shoulders of those who make the claim, " CS, unless your religious then proof is replaced by faith which is not the same as belief .."and if you stew tomatoes like prunes it taste much more applesauce than ruhbarb does".GM
I only want to be able to share my experience not prove it since I don't have any proof so lets all believe in having an open mind, with room for the unusual like our incredible expanding universe and it's possibilities and potential, shall we dance and throw a shoe at the funny objects in the sky?
Your future on Earth is probably not dependent on alien intelligence but more on our intelligence here and now and what path our feet are on.
In that fatefull moment when you encounter the strange and absurd remember me:) and good luck!
To answer the question ...yes people really do see unidentified objects flying. Not long ago I witnessed something that flew by our Presidents head. so there ya go. Would I lie to you?

Yes. I've seen them, been contacted, whatever. I'd believe a UFO was real before I would most "researchers".

Well, I believe they are real. I believe I saw a large UFO close to HWY 281 one night just south of Marble Falls in Texas around Thanksgiving of 2008. That one was approximately 100 feet above the HWY. I believe I saw a boomerang UFO sort of orange glow with trailing light array fly nearly over my mobile home and my husband saw it also. That was sometime earlier this year. I have seen a few what I would call unmanned probes near San Marcos Texas about 4 years ago. I saw a large disk glowing in the distance flip up on its side and go interstellar.
Yeah. They are real. And there are a lot of them around more often than you would think.
