Review of Selected Sightings From Aircraft (1942-1952)
Richard F. Haines
A total of 285 aircrew reports are reviewed for the period 1 January 1942 to 31 December 1952. Of the total 68 percent were military, 20 percent commercial, 11 percent private, and 1 percent unspecified. Twenty-nine cases (10.2 per cent) involved some form of electro-magnetic effect; they are reviewed in some detail.

U.K. Civil Aviation Authority case files 1978-1984 (Word format)
NARCAP (National Aviation Reporting Center on Anomalous Phenomena)
Since 1995, the British Civil Aviation Authority, CAA, has been releasing case files of aviation related observations and incidents involving UFOs/UAP. The CAA has been carefully and quietly collecting and analyzing data regarding near-collisions between aircraft and UFOs/UAP since at least the late 1970’s .

Aviation-UFO Air Misses
UFOs at Close Sight
One of the frequent skeptical comments is "If there were UFOs, how do you explain that pilots do not meet them in the air?". Well they do meet. Sometimes pilots wonder if they will not meet them just a little too close. Information and cases of aviation-related UFO sightings and near misses.

Sturrock Report - Physical Evidence Related to UFO Reports
Peter A. Sturrock, Stanford University, in Journal for Scientific Exploration
The purpose of this four-day workshop was to review purported physical evidence associated with UFO reports, with a view to assessing whether the further acquisition and investigation of such evidence is likely to help solve the UFO problem, namely the determination of the cause or causes of these reports.

Biochemical traumatology as a potent tool for identifying actual stresses elicited by unidentified sources: Evidence for plant metabolic disorders in correlation with a UFO landing
by Bounias, Michel C. L. (1990), J. Scientific Exploration, Vol. 4, No. 1, p. 1.
Following an accurate testimony of a "UFO" landing, samples of a wild strain of Alfalfa were collected at the epicentre and at various increasing distances of the trace left on the ground 4 and 40 days after the observation. A

PhysiologicalEffects
UFO-Related Human Physiological Effects
John F. Schuessler, Journal of Scientific Investigation
A significant number of UFO reports contain information suggesting that human physiological and psychological damage, animal reactions, and physical trace effects are caused by the UFO encounter. If this assertion is true, then we have an opportunity to provide the "proof" of reality sought by most researchers if we properly amass and utilize the results of the investigations. Important to researchers is the availability of historical data in a conveniently usable form. This document provides the first edition of a subset of the overall database - a catalog of UFO-related human physiological effects.

Physical Analyses in Ten Cases of Unexplained Aerial Objects with Material Samples
Jacques F. Vallee, Journal of Scientific Exploration
A survey of ten cases of unexplained aerial phenomena accompanied by material residues shows a broad distribution of natural elements, many of which are metallic in nature. They can be roughly described as belonging in two categories: "light materials" of high conductivity such as aluminum, and "slag-like materials" reminiscent of industrial byproducts. Most of those cases under consideration strive to meet four criteria: 1) the literature gives sufficient ground to support the fact that an unusual aerial phenomenon occurred, 2) the circumstances of the actual recovery of the specimen are reported, 3) there is data to suggest that the specimen is in fact linked to the observed aerial object, and 4) physical analysis has been performed by a competent laboratory of known reliability. In several instances the sample is available for continuing study by independent scientists.

SERENDIP - The UC Berkeley SETI Program
The UC Berkeley SETI Program, SERENDIP (Search for Extraterrestrial Radio Emissions from Nearby Developed Intelligent Populations) is an ongoing scientific research effort aimed at detecting radio signals from extraterrestrial civilizations. The project is the world's only "piggyback" SETI system, operating alongside simultaneously conducted conventional radio astronomy observations. SERENDIP is currently piggybacking on the 1,000-foot dish at Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, the largest radio telescope in the world. SERENDIP is dedicated to providing an answer to the age-old question "Are we alone?"

The Peace Project - Outreach to the Cosmos
Shari Adamiak, CSETI
In late July of 1995, the research team of Joachim Koch, a Surgeon from Berlin, Germany, and his colleague, Hans-JuÎrgen Kyborg, also of Berlin, put into play their second multi-group meditation project in Wiltshire County, England. In July of 1994, Joachim and Hans brought together groups to test their hypothesis regarding energy grids, perhaps activated by extraterrestrials, which occurred around sacred sites, ancient monuments, and seemed to be connected with the formation or location of certain crop circles. SETI
The Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence
Carl Sagan and Frank Drake, Scientific American, 1997
Is mankind alone in the universe? Or are there somewhere other intelligent beings looking up into their night sky from very different worlds and asking the same kind of question? Are there civilizations more advanced than ours, civilizations that have achieved interstellar communication and have established a network of linked societies throughout our galaxy? Such questions, bearing on the deepest problems of the nature and destiny of mankind, were long the exclusive province of theology and speculative fiction. Today for the first time in human history they have entered into the realm of experimental science. R

Can SETI Succeed: Carl Sagan and Ernst Mayr Debate
Here we present both sides of the philosophical and scientific debate. First, one of the most prominent evolutionary specialists of this century, Ernst Mayr of Harvard University's Museum of Comparative Zoology, delivers the main arguments of the uniqueness hypothesis. Mayr notes that, since they are based on facts, the various degrees of uniqueness are a problem for SETI, not a hypothesis. The late Carl Sagan of The Planetary Society and Cornell University's Laboratory of Planetary Studies responds to Mayr's statements and expresses the optimist's view.
