as an army cadet in my mid-teens i was away at annual camp in newcastle. we were to stay in a remote area of southern Scotland just across the border from England for a few days for enhanced fieldcraft training. late one evening we were to practice night ambushes and the night was perfect. there were clear skies so natural light from the stars and the quarter moon came down unobstructed by clouds enabling us to work comfortably with our natural night vision.

there were about eight groups that had to do ambush drills and with each ambush taking around 20 minutes to set up and 10 minutes to complete, as part of the last group i knew i would be waiting a long time. we spent the time chatting, smoking and watching the flares and flashes from the ambushes that were already taking place, whilst listening to the crack of rifle fire accompanied by bursts of automatic weapons.

during one of the recession periods between ambushes with about two groups left to go before us (around 02:00 - 02:30), a few of us were lying back taking in the view of the stars and commenting how clear the night sky was, how beautiful it is to be able to see the stars so clearly which just isn't possible from London.

Then around four of us witnessed an extremely bright white or yellowish light (the brightest object in the sky) move into our field of vision from above us with awesome speed at high altitude. it stopped dead directly above us high in the sky for around a second before moving purposefully left, then right before returning back to it's original still position. the object did not appear to accelerate nor decelerate, the movement was instantaneous. this series of movements was completed within a couple of seconds before the object appeared to shoot once again with amazing speed directly upwards away from us.

we all looked at each other and said at once "did you see that?". we'd witnessed the same thing together, highlighted by the fact that we all described the occurence in exactly the same way to people that had not seen it.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

had the object not purposefully changed direction or stopped it could have been a meteorite. it moved too quickly to be an aeroplane, satellite or any other man-made object. it could not have been a flare from the ambush drills as flares hang in the air and burn, this object moved too quickly and the light was constant, not a coloured burning. also, no ambushes were taking place at the time. Whilst we were on a military exercise at the time, we were not near any military bases.

i believe in extra terrestrial life forms, i have some knowledge of cases of UFO sightings.

Other Comments

the witnesses of the incident deduced that maybe the occupants of the UFO we saw had been intrigued by the flashes and noise of the ambush practices that had been ongoing and perhaps had arrived to survey the area.

it could be a military secret but it wasnt a conevrntional everyday aircraft it was too fast and manuvered to much to be anything regular

At the top of a private location in Motecito. It is a large plot of land that has nobody living on it. It was constructed in the early 20th century. It was an attempt at an exact replica of the gardens of Babylon.

There were five of us at the top of a mountain in Montecito, Ca.; we had a view of the entire coastline. A brief fireworks show was happening somewhere over Carpinteria, Ca. Thirty seconds after the fireworks ended, a extremely bright light appeared over the coast. A friend pointed out this bright, star like figure, asking if it was a plane or if it was moving. It was too bright to focus on, but all five of us stared right at it. Thirty to sixty seconds later, this bright light just vannished. It was as if a light bulb just turned off. It was a very clear night, and the moon was unusally bright. We all could see the object perfectly, it was just too bright to focus on. Ten-fifteen minutes later three military helicopters flew right by us. I have never been this close to such powerfull helicopters. Their strength pounded in our ears and chests as the flew directly infront of us. They undoubtibly saw all of us with our hands in the air, ontop of the mountain they were flying next to. All three quickly flew down for a landing extremely close to the spot of the sighting. we stared at the helicopters until we couldn't see them amongst the city. This does not seem to be a coincidence. Somebody sent those helicopters to the sighting; there is no need for three military helicopters in Summerland or Carpenteria.

It was too close to us to be a star. It was not moving. It was directly over the coastline. Nothing that close could be that bright.

100-150 feet across, Circular shaped (saucer like), darker metalic metal, no lights(daylight sighting) Alot of detail, not just flat round, bumps curves, windows ect. Sighting happened about 50 yards away from me only and lasted about 2 minutes.

100-150 feet across, not sure on height, it was not that tall, more round then anything. From my angle I could not even tell if it was dome shaped but I know it was round and disk like.

I was a young child of 8 years old at the time. I never seen or watched or heard about flying saucers before this moment. As I walked by the side window in our house, I seen a large object floating in the sky, as a kid I thought it was a plane at first, but it just stood in mid air silently. It was day time and not a cloud in the sky, there were no lights on the craft. I remember standing there and looking at the pure detail of the craft and marveling at it. It had bumps, curves, windows LOTS of detail. It was not round and flat like alot of the pictures show them to be, this was very detail filled. It was not silvery, more like a darker type steel substance.(maybe the steel reflects light so they appear to be silvery from farther away?) It was only about 50 yards away from me floating over the house next door, that is how I could make out so much detail. I would say it was about 100-150 feet across.

Here is the wierd part. I felt a sudden urge of panic and fear (almost like someone was watching me type feeling), so I ducked down below the window, when I did a second later a light shot inside the window, from my position the light could not touch me, at this point I was in total fear. I can only compare the light to someone with a powerfull spot light with it pointed from the sky downward into the window. When the light went away after awhile I got the courage to look out the window, when I did nothing was there. For years I did not tell anyone about this due to the reaction I might get. When you see something that different and strange, it is hard to believe it yourself.

This was no star, planet, balloon, ect. This was not man made, if man made it, it would not have had that detail. My guess is our we are experimenting with crafts like this now in our government, and alot of sightings are of our top secret new things. After this sighting I could weed through your photos and pick out the man made ones and (other) made ones very easy.

I was a child and knew nothing of UFO's before the sighting. After the sighting I doubted myself, being a child... Only years later(5+ years) and with introduction to what ufo's were did I realize what I had seen. Even then I did not tell anyone due to what people might think.

I think the government needs to come clean with what they know about UFO's. Now years later it is an old subject, people know what they have seen. We know that type of technology is top secret, like the black projects. But it is about time they spill the beans on everything, we are ready to hear the truth now. Many won't care if there are aliens, many won't care about the new technology. At this point in time we need to know the truth about aliens/ufo's. If anything the new information would unite the world as a whole and right now in time, we need just that.

The craft was huge with faint pink and orange lights around it.As soon as i got back to the cabin i drew a picture of it for my mom.

the ship was round ,with dome on top with three little windows lite up the bottom had a beem comeing down. i watched it untill it was out of site. it like just drifted slowly up. untill i couldnt see it any more. silver collor mabe.i cant remember if ther was a lite also in the dome i feel it was but i do remember the three lited ones. around the frount the part i was looking at i dont know what was on the back part for it drifted up.you couldnt see the back. i do know every since i saw this i cant get enough wanting to know about ufo it like a possesd. i know sounds stupid but ifeel i cant know enough i read all the time cant get enough. read want to learn things that never interested me.

not that much but now i cant get enough of reading and i never was reading about sitings or what have you but i sure do now and i am verry inthoused. and want to see another i alwas look outside in the sky at night still see nothing just sometimes there is round lights one time my sister and i said lets go see what in the sky so when we look up we saw those three lights in a row up over the neighbor house but high up.

yes i do i want to know what was that and why do they hide ?if it is ufo why cant they just come but i do hope they are friendly if it ever does happen i dont think they are monsters they look like us. it is just another planet with other people on it but more advanced than we are.
