This report is based on an event I experienced some 25 years ago when I was a petty officer 2nd class abourd the USS Forrestal. Specific details as to dates and exact geographic position are fuzzy. I believe we were transiting the Straights of Mecina in the summer of 1981 (between Italy and Siccily) and tehn probably out into the open sea (Med).

I was on watch as a radarman in the combat information center manning a surface radar console. At roughly 11:00 p.m. a friend stopped in and asked me to come up to the signal bridge when I got off work at midnight. When I arrived at the signal bridge (in the superstructure just above the captain's bridge) I could make out a number of people in the darkness and could hear a lot of quiet talking. My friend pointed out a bright orange star in the night sky (it was very clear) and asked what i reckoned it was. I told him I thought it was probably Mars, Jupitor or Saturn. He told me to take a look at it through the "big eyes" (high powered, mounted binoculars). What I saw stunned me. I saw a spherical object, with a bright corona and clearly delineated contours (it looked like photos of the sun rather than a light bulb where contours are diffuse). It appeared to tumble end over end and spin like a top at the same time. This strange appearence was suggested by what appeared to be moving internal lights as well as color changes within the object itself. The colors had a liquid fluidity to them which gave the object the appearnce of spinning and tumbling while remaining stationary.

Because there was nothing to compare the object to I can't make any estimates on the scale of the object or its distance from the ship. A meteorologist arrived on the scene and said it was ball lightening. At first this sounded reasonable (as I didn't know what ball lightening was) but I noticed that the object maintained its relative position to the ship and its height above the horizon even though we were cruising at a particular course and speed for some time.

I went down to the captain's bridge where I witnessed the officer of the deck ( a young ensign) and a number of other officers and enlisted men talking excitiedly about what we were all seeing. I listened to the officer of the deck communicate with other ships in company via the red phone (an encrypted frequency) about the object.

I went out to the signal deck again. Along with a number of other people I watched the object till it was lost in the morning sun some 6 hours later just as 2 other objects of differnt shape were spotted off the starboard bow (one I recall was vaguely triangular). No contacts were ever picked up by either surface or air radars. At one point in the evening I saw with my peripheral vision what I believed to be a meteor cross the sky from the back of the ship to the front. We noticed the object was gone afterwards. Some minutes later we saw a meteor-like streak in the sky come from the opposite horizon behind us moving towards the ship and then noticed that the object was back in its position again.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

As I said, it maintained a constant relative distance, height and position to our ship over many hours. Natural phenomenon wouldn't do that. As far as being an aircraft . . . it made no sound. I was stationed aboard an aircraft carrier. I was very familiar with military aircraft of many types both in terms of their sounds, speed, and how they appeared in flight at high speeds. This didn't resemble any of those craft in any way.

I didn't think much about UF's before hand. I became interested afterwards and read a lot of literature on the phenomenon in later years. I don't know what they are. They suggest an intelligence other than our own co-exists with us. Whether they are from other planets or are something we so alien we can't conceptualize what they might be, I don't know. I think a lot of the UFO theories (and the counter theories by skeptics) are a bit irrational and often silly. All these conspiracy theories remind me of the kind of things conjured up and aimed at the Jews by Europeans (and now Arabs) for centuries. Crazy hyped up inventions. But something is certainly here with us in my opinion. What that is . . . . who the hell knows.

Appearance / Description of Object(s)

It was silver bright and shaped like a dumbbell. It was tilted almost vertical against the sky. The spheres at each end were reflecting a lot of light as if they were spinning or pulsating. It made no sound.

It looked like this O=O and was about this size if it would be held and arms length. I estimate that it would be the size of a jet airplane.

A suburban area about 50 miles north of Harrisburg, Pennslyvania along the Susquehanna river where there are trees lining each side of the river. There is a power plant along the river which the object flew over. There is no military base in this area.

My friend and I were driving down 8th Avenue in Shamokin Dam, PA. We stopped at the red light and as we waited for the light to change I happened to look out the window ahead of us, to the right, and I saw a silver object in the clear blue sky. It was very low and I thought it might be a balloon or a kite. It was shaped like a dumbbell (like this O=O and about this size if it would be held and arms length). It was tilted almost vertical against the sky. The spheres at each end were reflecting a lot of light as if they were spinning or pulsating. The traffic light changed and when we got to the Old Trail, directly ahead, we turned south toward Selinsgrove where we were going to a picnic. My friend turned into a parking lot so we could get a better look at the object, which started to rise as it moved very slowly north up the Susquehanna River that runs north to South along the Old Trail. My friend tried to see the object but he only has sight in one eye and could not focus in on the area that I was pointing to. After the object seemed to stop and hover for a minute or so it started to move south again. Its movement was quite deliberate, not at all like a balloon, and clearly was not attached to anything like a kite. After moving south for about 15 seconds it stopped and remained stationary. As it seemed to hover directly above it began to fade from silver to gray, like a shadow; then it disappeared. I don’t think it was rising out of sight because it did not diminish in size as it faded away. All this happened within 4 or 5 minutes.

Can sighting be explained as any conventional man-made or natural object?

It was clearly not a star or any other celestial body. I've never seen a bird shaped like a dumbell or a cloud that reflected bright silver. I don't know the shape of a weather balloon or if they can fade away like a puff of smoke without diminishing in size.

I saw a UFO in 1955 in daylight which remained stationery over my back yard in Sunbury, Pa. It was a silver disk with a dark round center and I saw it as if from its bottom as it hover directly over head. I watched it for about 10 minutes before a cloud covered it. The object was gone when the cloud finally passed over. Since then I have been very watchful of the sky and have read other accounts of sightings by other people.

The first time i seen the object it looked like the front end of a pick-up truck and about the same size there was white lights in the middle and orange on the outside. The second time the object was round about 15 ft in diameter was purple with whit and orange lights in the center. It was bright enough to light up the night sky.

As i was getting a drink of water from the river what looked like to be another vehicle pulling into the rest area went by my vehicle and parked behind a clump of trees lights went out and there was dead silence the only source of light was the headlights from my pick-up as not suspecting anything out of the ordinary i walked back to my pick-up the headlights suddenly went out on there own but being a brand new dodge ram i thought it was some feature i did n,t know about.I climbed back into my pick-up locked the doors and made an attempt to fall asleep when a couple mins. later i heard movement around the truck when i opened my i eyes i noticed on the instrument cluster there was what looked like a laser pointer probing the gauges but it wasn.t a one point of light but a small but defined set of purple lights(----) as shown here. As i sat there looking into the darkness i could here something moving around the truck now there was some moonlight but every now and agian a heavy fog would move in and the only source of light was a very distinct purple glow as i sat there i could see lots of movement around the truck not one object but several i,m not sure how much time went by but every now and again i would turn on the rear cargo lamps and nothing would be there. After a period of time it may have been an hour i noticed a purple glow on the southern horizon i looked as if a purple dome was over the town of Woss the light became more and more intense just then something landed on the roof of my truck and there was a sound that i have never heard before as what ever was on the roof was talking but not in any language that i ever heard of.The movement around the truck intensified there sounded like there was something being dragged over the truck like wire or something as this was going on the purple light to the south intensified to the point as if it was directly coming from behind the clump of trees that was in front of the truck it was this time that i decided to leave the area immediately i drove back on to the hiway and preceded south i now was in a state of panic as i did not know what was happening i wasn,t much a believer in ufos but what was taking place could only be one thing. After i passed the turn out to Woss there was a purple glow in the fog above me i then realized what ever was in the rest area i had just left was now above the truck i accelerated the truck i was now going about 80 mph but the object was still above me there was a fog now coming right down to the highway , something was collecting on the windshield making it hard to see i turned on the windshield wipers but all they where doing was smearing what ever was on the wind shield making it worst just then something landed on the roof of the truck i accelerated the truck to110 mph and started swerving the truck to shake loose what ever was up there when looked in the rear view mirror i saw something fly off the roof of the truck i couldn,t make out what it was but other than it was something white, i was traveling at a high rate of speed for about 30 mins it seemed iwas keeping a head of what ever was above me i came across another rest area that had other vehicles parked in it i pulled my vehicle in between two r.v.s and turned my truck off i sat there and watched as a series or purple search lights was probing the sky this went on for about 20-30 mins. afterwhich the purple object moved away. It was then about 5 a.m and the sun was coming up i sat in my truck until about 6 a.m. when i decided to go for a morning swim it was a 10 min hike through the forest down to the river when i got close to the river i could here children talking i then noticed someone inthe brush watching me i thought maybe it was the mother so i took another part of the trail i got down to the river had a swim and started back up the trail when i noticed another person watching it was male and wearing a green rain jacket with a ball cap and hood i took another part of the trail but this person seemed to be following me so i stopped and sat under some under growth.I sat in the same place for probally 20 mins watching this man in the green rain jacket just standing there about 10 meters looking around as if he was looking for something in particular about this time the woman i seen earlier walked by the man in the green rain jacket she moved away where i coundn,t see her but i could here them communicating the impression i got at the time was they may had concerns about me i can,t be exactly sure. The couple then moved away from the spot they were standing and i could hear them walking on the bank above me i was crouched in behind a root wad where they couldn,t see me but i could hear them coming down the bank behind me i started to get spooked so i got up and headed back down the trail towards my truck i then could hear them follow me through the brush at this time i had enough and turned to confront them the only person i saw behind me was the man in the green rain jacket i tried talking to him to see what the reason was for following but the man did not reply as i took this as strange so i turned back down the trail again when i noticed another person following me i approached this person as well but would not reply when i spoke to them so i turned back down the trail towards the truck again the whole time i could hear these people following me when i reached my truck i decided to sit down and catch my breath as i sat there i could see three people standing about 10 meters away just watching me. I then decided to look on the roof of my truck to see if any marks or scratchs were there from the night before to my amazement the dew onthe roof showed what looked like a small print about 4 inches long and almost looked peanut shaped along with a series of 6 lines on either side of the roof of the truck running parallel with the doors by this time it was about 7 a.m maybe later ( my wrist watch had stopped 11:55) i decided things were getting to weird so i made the decision to go to my dads house in Campbell River which was about an hour away on the drive down south i noticed a dark fog above the truck again about half an hour later i stopped at a service station in Sayward where i called my Dad to tell him what was happening i remember him telling me in the past about encounters he had but i dismissed them as just stories never believing in them but what happened to me that night i,m a true believer. As i left the gas station the head liner in my truck started to make crackling popping sounds and it seemed the liner was starting to bulge downward thats where i decided i had enough i ran back to the station to try regain myself but people that were there thought i was acting funny when i told one woman that was there what had happened (suzie) she decided to call the police when they arrived i explained what happened but i could tell the way people were looking at me that i was either on something or nuts.Any way the police decided i was in no fram of mind to be driving so they gave me a ride to my Dads and my truck towed there as well. When my truck arrived at my Dads i decided to have a closer look at the roof of the truck which was now dry what i noticed etched in to the light film of dust were symbols and writing i have seen never before i had my brother look at them as well and he could see them as well what we also discovered were looked like finger prints in sets of three all over the truck and a about a meter above the ground. We did take pictures of the prints which i will attach to this. As i explained before i was never a believer in ufos and the rest of it but what happened that night was to real i,m still alittle shook up but i would sure like to know what this was all about.

there was a time lapse from the time I saw the object to the time I got home there were 4 hous difference and when I looked out the window of the house the object was going toward the north east at a high altitude untill it dissapered into the clouds I could see the light bouncing of the the clouds.

Before clearing the hotel roof completely the object appear black, noticeable black even when against the dark navy blue sky. We had recently arrived at the Waikiki Hilton , Honolulu Hawaii. Our room was on the 24 floor located on the beach side of the hotel, leeward side of island. I was 11, Brother 21, Mom 47, We all saw the same object, same description. I was on the balcony looking for fragments from Halie's comet. Halie's comet was passing over on a trajectory that only was visible from the windward side of the island. So This is why i was looking for fragments and looking up at all.

As i was looking up with my back leaning on the safety railing and head tilted out over the edge of the building. No I would not recommend any one doing this I was a little kid and now it would break and i would die. Any way as i was looking up, i saw the object slowly break from being behind the roof edge facing the ocean. The object was traveling very slowly. I instantly yelled to my mom, she and my brother came out and immediately noticed the object.

It was a perfect orb, silver anodized texture. It was reflective metallic but the light was fragmented. Yes i do realize that it is impossible to have a perfect circle or orb. This looked as close as possible, realize it was about 150 feet above us, 100 feet of the roof. The object reflected colors from ground lights, as it moved it would take on defused colors of the lights from the hotel to the pool to the orange lights lighting the beach at night. It was moving at a speed that allowed up 6 minutes to watch it travel from the roof edge to the beach edge. The light refraction was what allowed us visually see it was a three dimensional circular orb and not a flat disk. It traveled on a exactly strait line to the ocean water edge. NO noise was herd that was obviously recognized, there could have bee an extremely quiet humm or white noise. This sound could have been from the object or not it was hardly audible if at all. As object reached ocean edge it accelerated an estimated 3 mph to impossible speed and was completely out of sight to horizon in 45 to 60 seconds.

It is possible that it was a government vehicle. However it it was our government it would be a technology hardly conceived by mainstream scientist. It would have to be project that used an ability to manipulate gravity. It could be an electromagnetic wave technology, but either one of those guesses are just as accurate as it could be extraterrestrial in origin.

Unchanged just further intrigued. After all I saw something, i have no way of testing or gathering any more information from the event to provide evidence one way or another. I would like for it to be extraterrestrial however i have no evidence to make that conclusion. It could just as easily be an extraordinarily advance example of military technology.

If what i saw was government equipment. i feel that we as humans are no way evolved enough to yield this type of technology. I hope that it was not human technology it we are able to do this i fear we will not have to long before it will be abused in a way that could easily the worst atrocity in human existence. Humans prove over and over again we are not capable of power with out becoming corrupted by it.

It was night time, however, it seemed to be shining a light out of the front before it turned toward us, and as such, gave the impression of a cup with lights pointed out of the indent. When it turned toward us, it had three very clear lights, much brighter than stars, in the shape of a triangle. When it turned away, it dimmed VERY quickly, and the dim light that remained seemed blue-tinted.

Relative size was approximately half an inch. Given how far away the object seemed, actual size (at a rough approximation) would have been perhaps 100 feet across and 30 feet high. To reiterate, VERY rough approximations.

It is a rural area, on Bass Lake, which is surrounded by occasional cottages. The surrounding area is pretty much entirely forest with a small amount of swamp in the opposite direction of the sighting. There are no significant landmarks nearby, to my knowledge.

Three of us (myself and two cousins) were out walking at 4:00 AM (or so). We saw an unusual amount of shooting stars, and fascinated by it, we lay down in on the side of the road outside our grandmother's house. We were watching stars, when the eldest of us (age 20) pointed out something moving incredibly fast through the sky. At first, I did not notice it, however, when I saw it, it began turning towards us. Whether the actual object was turning towards us or if it just shone lights in our direction, I don't know. There were three lights, in a triangle shape. The lights were plain white, although seemed to have a blue tint before and after being pointed at us. It seemed to be getting closer; the lights got brighter and bigger, and the movement slowed, as if it were heading toward us. Then, as we all started expressing feelings of terror, the lights dimmed, either from turning away or being shut off, and the object continued on the path it had originally been on, heading from west-north-west to south (approximately), but soon after became so dim that we could no longer see it. I looked at my watch at this time and noticed it was 4:17 AM.

Not a chance, unless I'm overlooking something. I've considered every possibility I can think of, but have no logical ideas.

I thought of UFOs as science fiction, an interesting idea at best. My entire view of reality has been slightly warped now, and I don't know what to believe. I've read about UFOs previously, but not considered any of it to be real.
