Over a mountain, not rural. We live on a 20 acre ranch in a town with a small population between Temecula and Palm Desert. The object was traveling from our NW sky (LA) to SW (San Diego)

Sept. 25, 2010 Anza, CA (our house sits on a mountain at 5000 feet over looking a valley and opposite mountain range- Anza is an hour between Temecula and Palm Desert)

Last night around 9:30-10pm pst, my step-son and I were out watching the stars and he got excited and noticed a "shooting star" he said. I turned to look where he was pointing (NW) and saw what then appeared to be a bright redish comet with a long tail trailing behind. He said when he saw it, it was bright white and almost blinded him (this is when it must have entered our atmosphere), then changing into a comet headed south in the sky. We quickly alerted the rest of the family (3 other pre-teen children and my husband) who came out and witnessed with us, what WASN'T a "shooting star" or "comet". The tail turned into a cloud of smoke as this large bright redish orange fire ball continued to travel south across the horizon. We watched it for a few minutes as it flew south, then it puffed another cloud of smoke and seemed to excellerate leaving a trail of smoke in it's wake and sped up traveling south still. It disapeared, reapeared, continued to fly south across our horizon and after watching it for about 5 min it just vanished. This was intelligently controlled, and AMAZING to see! The distance the large glowing ball traveled was from NW to SW- and had to have covered many, many miles as it crossed our entire horizon looking over the valley.

From the distance, I would say that the UFO would be about the size of a small school bus if it would to be seen up close.

I spotted it at the intersection of San Bernadino AVE. and Poplar AVE. It was flying over houses.

It was hard to see but you were able to ell it was disc shaped because the lights were showing the shape of the object. The color color of the lights spinning around it were the same color of a light bulb. The UFO had a unique red light on top of it.

No because I never seen any man made object loo like that.

It looked like a star/planet, but then it changed from white to orange , then dimmed and a puff of smoke or a cloud seemed to appear to the right of it. What was stranger is that the cloud left a trail like a jet behind it (slower, though).

We were driving home on the 118 after seeing a movie and I noticed a large star in the sky. It wasn't blinking and I thought it was Jupiter. I told my future-astronaut son to look and he said it wasn't Jupiter, that Jupiter was higher above and to the right of the the moon. This was lower in the sky. Suddenly, as we were all watching it (except for my husband, who was driving) it got brighter - orange - then dimmed, then a cloud appeared to come out of it and move to the right leaving a cloud-like trail. We were going up a large hill and my husband pulled off of the freeway. By the time we all focused again the cloud seemed to dissipate.

Possibly. Can't think of what it could be, though.

roundish at first, then almost to the shape of a cross, then round again as it got smaller. Fairly bright, and brighter as it grew and dimmer when it got smaller. Orange in color.

Saw streaking orangish comet-like glow across sky with long "tail" glowing white in color. Tail dissappeared, object stopped cold in the sky and hovered or remained stationary. It appeared to grow in size vertically while maintining its position in the sky. Then it began to get smaller and smaller, and just disappeared. 2 seconds later, it reappeared, grew again. Stayed stationary, then just disappeared.

We were sitting at our campsite by the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne, MA and we saw two objects flying above the canal. I had just come out of the RV. They were orange in color and closely resembled the flame of a candle. They proceeded to fly down the canal and no engine noise could be heard. There were three of us who witnessed this. They were out of sight within 1 – 2 min. They were the weirdest things I have ever seen. They were traveling as if following each other.

I was fishing off the pier in surf city, north carolina; i am stationed at marine corps air staion new river about 20 minutes north. I am a crew chief on uh-1n helicopters. I know the flight carachteristics of all air craft in the military and what they look and sound like when flying. As i was fishing one night, i was facing south, and a light to the west caught my eye. The hueys and cobras that i work and fly on like to fly around the pier and in the channels, its kind of a nice view. So I thought it may have been one of the aircraft from my air station. But I nnoticed that the light, which was a glowing red and white, wasnt realy moving. Had it been a jet, you would see it moving at a high rate of speed, say if it was a harrier or a prowler from mcas cherry pointe, more north than new river. But it didnt move fast at all, it realy didnt move at all, just very slowly upward. I know that it was moving upward due to the fact that as crew chiefs, we are taught that if all else fails, use the stars as a guide for whatever you may need. i notived it was moving upward as compared to the stars. And there was no anticollision light in the surrounding area of the light. An anticollicion light is either white or red, and flashes at night. It always flashes, that is the light you see going off on airplanes at night which makes them noticable at night to the naked eye. Every aircraft must have on a smack light, as they are referred to; unless they are doing night operations and the smack light is infrared, in that case you wouldnt see any lights at all. So I'm watching this light, and it doesnt make any kind of sense to me as to what it could possibly be, i work around all types of aircraft, i see them all the time, every night. But this was like notihng ive seen. It continued to move up, and then all of a sudden, it was gone, like it died out. There was nothing left it was like someone just turned off the light switch.

It could have been an airplane, but like stated, i watch aircraft everynight it didnt have any characteristics of aircraft that surround the north carolina coast

My neighbour came to my door at about 21:30 grasping a camera and asking for my dad, a senior police officer. He was out, but I asked him what was wrong and he explained that he had seen six red/yellow lights hovering above a field behind a residential estate. He said that he looked at them for several minutes, just petrified and he ran home and got his camera. He returned to find them still there, but when he raised his camera, they started to disperse upwards and "woosh" away into the sky. He took a single photograph, as they left and then returned to the housing estate straight to my door.

I put these videos on YOU TUBE search: ZEEDER1000...at first I couldn't "see" anything...later it looks like an outline of a flying object...he said they saw more but he couldn't film it all...would tell me more about it once he got home...everyone on the ship saw this!
