Ethical Implications of the UFO Abduction Phenomenon
Budd Hopkins
I will concentrate instead on what information we can derive from their accounts that might bear on the question of the moral nature of the UFO phenomenon. Are the UFO occupants, as they are described by their abductees, good or bad, friends or foes, or is the situation just not reducible to such terms?

The problem is NOT that there is not enough evidence to justify my conclusions; but that most people, especially the noisy negativists, are unaware of the real, non-tabloid evidence.

Zen and the Art of Debunkery
Daniel Drasin
So you've had a close encounter with a UFO. Or a serious interest in the subject of extramundane life. Or a passion for following clues that seem to point toward the existence of a greater reality. Mention any of these things to most working scientists and be prepared for anything from patronizing skepticism to merciless ridicule. After all, science is supposed to be a purely hardnosed enterprise with little patience for "expanded" notions of reality. Right?

Introduction: An Overview of the Majestic Documents
Majestic Documents Website, Robert Wood
Majestic Documents.com is a groundbreaking look at the United States UFO program called Majestic and the top secret government documents that tell the story of presidential and military action, authorization, and cover-up regarding UFOs and their alien occupants. A remarkable work of investigative journalism, this website is the first to authenticate top secret UFO documents that tell a detailed story of the crashed discs, alien bodies, presidential briefings, and superb secrecy. Special attention is paid to the forensic authentication issues of content, provenance, type, style and chronology. The story the documents tell leaves the reader with little doubt that the cover-up is real, shocking, and at times unethical.

Interview with Stan Friedman on UFOs & Roswell
By Glenn Danforth
Nuclear Physicist Stanton Friedman is, arguably, the world's most respected and well-known UFO researcher. Friedman believes two alien spaceships crashed in New Mexico in 1947. He offers what many people feel is proof the U.S. Government has conducted a continuing cover-up of the truth behind what newspaper headlines at the time called the crash of a flying saucer (now known as the Roswell incident). Getting Inside Your Head: Media, Mind Control, and Marginalization of UFOs
Richard M. Dolan
Why is serious coverage of UFOs absent in the mainstream media? This article attempts to answer that question. It describes how big media and national security interests have converged, and how this relates to the subsequent banishment of serious information about UFOs from "official culture" (as I have often called it). This is one of the longer pieces in here, and will be featured in the February/March 2003 issue of UFO Magazine.

UFOs: Challenge to SETI Specialists
Stanton T. Friedman
Major news media and many members of the scientific community have taken strongly to the radio-telescope based SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) program as espoused by its charismatic leaders, but not supported by any evidence whatsoever. In turn, perhaps understandably, they feel it necessary to attack the ideas of alien visitors (UFOs) as though they were based on tabloid nonsense instead of on far more evidence than has been provided for SETI.

UFOs and Extraterrestrial Life
Darrell L. Stanley, Captain, USAF
A Thesis Submitted to the Air Command and Staff College of Air University in Partial Fulfillment of The Requirements for Graduation. -- Over the years, the evidence on UFO has con- tinued to mount. Many sightings are eventually explained, but an impressive number are not. This study examines the evidence, showing that its credibility has grown as the "unknowns" have accumulated. The study also examines the likelihood of extraterrestrial life, and attempts to draw inferences about technological achievements on other worlds. It concludes that there is a growing case for the reality of UFOs, and that intelligent extraterrestrial life almost certainly exists. R

UFO Skeptic - Website of Bernard Haisch, Ph.D.
Bernard Haisch
An information site on the UFO phenomenon by and for professional scientists. I propose that true skepticism is called for today: neither the gullible acceptance of true belief nor the closed-minded rejection of the scoffer masquerading as the skeptic. One should be skeptical of both the believers and the scoffers. The negative claims of pseudo-skeptics who offer facile explanations must themselves be subject to criticism.

The Speed-of-Light-Limit Argument
Bernard Haisch, Ph.D.
The Leading Theory-Based Rejectionist Argument (which we all know). The speed of light is a universal upper limit. Distances between stars range from 4.3 light years to Alpha Centauri to a hundred thousand light years across the Milky Way galaxy to millions of light years between galaxies. These facts are incompatible with tens of thousands of apparent visitations R

Fermi's Paradox and the Preparation for Contact Hypothesis
Bernard Haisch, Ph.D.
There are at least 100 billion, and perhaps as many as 400 billion, stars in our Milky Way Galaxy. Carl Sagan once said: "There may be a million worlds in the Milky Way Galaxy alone which are at this moment inhabited by other intelligent beings" (Cosmos, episode XI). R

ParaNet UFO File Archives
ParaNet's roots are with a bulletin board system (BBS) called "The Other Side" created by former Director of ParaNet Jim Speiser, Director of ParaNet from 1986-88. In 1988, Jim turned over the directorship of ParaNet to Michael Corbin, who further developed the ParaNet-MICAP Bulletin Board Service (BBS). The ParaNet-MICAP BBS ran from 1989-1995.Ahead of its time, the BBS was unique in terms of its ability to link researchers (and skeptics) in the field to those investigators whose research spanned the paranormal, anomalous and unexplained. There is much historically valuable information buried within the files listed below that may possibly lend insight into the same questions that plague researchers today: UFOs, cattle mutilations, crop circles, conspiracy theory, and other phenomena. This historical information also serves to situate researchers and their research problems during a very interesting time in UFO history-the operation of the ParaNet-MICAP BBS.

What Are They?
Richard M. Dolan
This is really the first time I have tried to express my thoughts on what exactly is behind the UFO phenomenon. It took me a long time to consider writing such thoughts down; indeed, it took some time to come to this understanding. I offer this piece as a speculation. I do not pretend that I have any better claim to the truth than the next theorist. I will say, however, that I would offer my interpretation against any others, and haven't really found anyone else making this argument. As far as I can tell, the argument I present is unique. As always, I am interested in comments from interested readers. This article appeared in the June/July 2002 issue of UFO Magazine.

What We Know About UFOs, and Whether It Matters
Richard M. Dolan
This was going to be called "Official vs. Unofficial Culture" but I changed my mind. Essentially, this article is about what we know, why it matters, and why it doesn't. There are differences between knowing the truth and being able to act upon it. Yet, there is reason for optimism. Appears in the April/May 2002 issue of UFO Magazine.

The Death of James Forrestal: A Study in Subterranean History
Richard M. Dolan
At around 2 a.m. on the morning of May 22, 1949, America’s first Secretary of Defense, James Vincent Forrestal, fell to his death from a small window of the 16th floor of the Bethesda Naval Hospital. The decline and death of Forrestal is an unresolved problem of history. There is no question that he suffered from a spectacular mental breakdown during 1948 and 1949. Exactly why he did so is less certain, but the answer may have relevance to American national security and the pesky topic of UFOs.

Steven Greer and the Disclosure Project
Richard M. Dolan
The arrival of Dr. Steven Greer in the world of ufology signifies a marriage of sorts between two antipodes of thought. On the one hand, Greer has raised the banner – trampled and abandoned – that was carried years ago by Donald Keyhoe. This is the fight to end UFO secrecy. Like Keyhoe, Greer has given it an extraordinary effort for more than ten years, focusing on "nuts and bolts" cases, briefing high level government officials, pressing for Congressional hearings, and gathering many people from the military who are willing to put their careers (and worse, some say) on the line to discuss it. This is his Disclosure Initiative, culminating in the press conference of May 9, 2001. For better or worse, it was a historic -- that’s right, historic event -- in the history of ufology. R

The Lost Opportunity: 1966 in Retrospect
Richard M. Dolan
A historical review of what when wrong during that fateful year, when a breakthrough in the struggle to end UFO secrecy seemed possible. The story remains relevant today, as a new generation of UFO researchers and lobbyists are working toward the same goal. Look for it also in the June/July issue of UFO Magazine.
