Large triangular object hovers near campers in Patapsco State Park

March, 22, 1978 - Patapsco State Park, Maryland, United States

Gary Oickle, 24, his brother David, 22, and two friends were camping in Patapsco State Park, when they encountered a huge triangular shaped object with large windows and three white lights at the corners. The object moved very slowly, hovering at times. When it appeared above them it was very low, approximately 200-250 feet, and made a sound like a "quiet wind" or "quietly rushing waterfall". A Pittsburgh construction worker and his girlfriend claimed they saw a massive disc-shaped object settle about 2,000 feet over Highland Reservoir. He estimated its size as larger than the reservoir itself. Paul Oles, program director for Buhl Planetarium, also saw a bright light which he "can't explain," about one hour earlier. An 18-year-old woman saw a pair of bright "headlights" flashing from an oval object moving silently through the skies over Walcott, Iowa, where she worked as a security guard. Her radio and walkie-talkie stopped working, and cows and crickets in a nearby field stood silent. A television in a nearby farm house went blank, she learned later. View full report

Boys on camping trip report sighting UFO

July, 26, 1976 - Patesville, Kentucky, United States

Five boys were camping in a forest valley, when at around 11 p.m. one of the boys glimpsed a bright, glowing bell-shaped object traveling at fantastic speed in an east-to-west direction. The object was a glowing, golden color, and maintained an altitude of 450-500 feet'. The boys described it as emitting "sparkles" from the rear as it traversed the sky. View full report

It had lights on each end and in the middle with blue square lights all across the back end of the wings.... We noticed that there was absolutely no sound at all and that it didn't fluctuate or "flutter" and that it just floated in the air. We saw structure, that is we saw the body of the vehicle. Reinhold Hering, a head forester in his thirties and sportswoman Erika Graef were hunting in Agsbach Valley when they saw a bright UFO appear from behind a pine tree. Mrs. Graef said, "With the naked eye you could clearly see the disc which gave off a brilliant light." The strange object was in sight for 10-15 seconds and was estimated to be 180 feet in diameter. The sighting occurred in the fall of 1971 in Florence, SC. Around dusk one evening the witness went out to the backyard and watched as a large, black triangular craft was passing directly overhead. It was about 300 ft across from tip to tip and about half that distance from front tip to the rear. It was perfectly silent. On the night of 04 October 1967, shortly after 11:00 PM, a UFO some 60 feet in diameter was seen to hover over the water near the tiny fishing village of Shag Harbour, Nova Scotia. The UFO, which displayed four bright lights that flashed in sequence, tilted to a 45-degree angle and descended rapidly towards the water's surface. Canadian Navy seaman witnesses object on beach

November, 30, 1965 - Cornwallis, Nova Scotia, Canada

Seaman Ian Kinsey, of Her Majesty's Coastal Service, was on his 2-4 a.m. watch at the Cornwallis station. When he looked out towards the shoreline, he saw a sharply oval, yellow object resting on the beach. The UFO was "lit up," but not glaring. Five minutes later a sliding door on the object's side opened and a smaller, cigarette-shaped UFO entered the larger object through the door. A similar sighting took place a few hours before in Springhill, about 125 miles from Cornwallis. View full report
